Nko and Onyadama Crisis: Cross River
Speaker, Eteng Williams Donates Food Items, Relief Materials to Displaced Victims
Following the breakout of communal clash between the communities of Nko and Onyadama in Yakurr and Obubra Local Government Areas, thousands of persons mainly women and children have been displaced from Nko community as a result of military activities in the area.
The Speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly has donated food items and relief materials to Displaced Persons currently taking refuge in Mkpani, Ekori and Ugep towns in Yakurr local government area of the state, due to the nko and onyadama crisis.
Presenting the items to the Traditional Rulers in the areas, the lawmaker who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Ubi Williams, said the gesture was aimed to cushion the hardship condition of the displaced persons.
He said the food items comprised of bags of Rice, garri, cartons of noddles, loaves of bread, soap and others to citizens from nko and oyadama crisis
Earlier in a press release, the Speaker had condemned the communal conflict between both neighbouring communities where he called on Security Agencies, Traditional Rulers, LGA Chairmen, political and religious leaders and other leaders of influence in both Local Government Areas to restore and maintain peace.
