Josef Onoh has blamed the recurring flooding in the Federal Capital Territory on illegal developments erected along waterways, warning that the situation could worsen if urgent measures are not taken.
The former spokesman for Bola Tinubu’s South-East campaign team called on the federal government and relevant agencies to immediately enforce environmental and urban planning regulations to tackle the growing menace.
Onoh stressed that unauthorized construction blocking drainage channels and natural water paths has significantly contributed to the flooding being experienced across parts of Abuja, especially during the rainy season.
He further urged authorities to demolish illegal structures built on waterways and implement stricter monitoring to prevent future environmental disasters in the nation’s capital.
