Cross River State Government Terminates Road Construction Contract Awarded to Sydney Construction Company

The Cross River State Government, through the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, has terminated the contract awarded to Sydney Construction Company for the construction of the Obanliku–Obudu–Abucheche–Mfom–Okpoma Road, citing poor performance and failure to meet contractual obligations.

Speaking during the contract termination exercise, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Pius Ankpo Edet, stated that the decision was taken because the contractor failed to deliver on the agreed terms and conditions of the project.

“Your contract has been terminated due to poor performance and failure to meet your contractual obligations,” the commissioner said.

Hon. Edet emphasized that the Cross River State Government remains committed to ensuring that all awarded contracts are executed diligently and in accordance with the required standards.

He added that the state government is sincere in the execution of its infrastructure projects and will not tolerate delays or substandard performance from contractors.

“Our projects are genuine, transparent, and visible to the people. We are committed to delivering quality infrastructure that will positively impact the lives of our citizens,” he stated
