Anthony Joshua Stages Stunning Comeback to Knock Out Kristian Prenga in Jeddah
Anthony Joshua produced one of the most dramatic victories of his career after recovering from two early knockdowns to stop Kristian Prenga in the second round of their heavyweight clash in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The former world heavyweight champion endured a nightmare start, hitting the canvas just 19 seconds into the contest after a powerful right hand from Prenga. Moments later, Joshua was dropped again by a devastating uppercut, leaving many inside the arena fearing an upset.
He weathered the storm before taking control in the second round, landing a sharp one-two combination that stunned Prenga. Sensing his opportunity, the British-Nigerian star unleashed a series of heavy punches that forced the referee to stop the contest at 2:43 of Round 2, sealing a dramatic knockout victory.
The emotional triumph comes just months after Joshua was involved in a tragic car crash in Nigeria in December 2025, an accident that claimed the lives of his close friends, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele. Speaking after the fight, an emotional Joshua dedicated the victory to their memories and extended his thoughts to their families.
“This win is for them,” Joshua said as he struggled to hold back tears. “They will never be forgotten.”
The victory improves Joshua’s professional record to 30 wins and four defeats, keeping him firmly in the conversation for major heavyweight bouts.
After the fight, Joshua turned his attention to long-time rival Tyson Fury, renewing calls for a blockbuster showdown later in 2026. A clash between the two British heavyweight stars has long been one of boxing’s most anticipated matchups, and Joshua made it clear he wants the fight to finally happen.
Regardless of the criticism, Joshua’s comeback victory showcased his determination and fighting spirit, adding another memorable chapter to his heavyweight career.
