Andrea Pirlo’s Italy Manager Deal Collapse Over Betting Brand Controversy
Andrea Pirlo will not become the next head coach of Italy after the Italian Football Federation reportedly cancelled the agreement before the contract could be signed.
The deal, which was expected to be finalized today, has fallen through after Italian Federation president Giovanni Malagó decided against proceeding with Pirlo’s appointment due to the former midfielder’s collaboration with a Russian betting brand.
Pirlo had been on the verge of taking charge of the Italian national team, but the federation has now withdrawn from the agreement, ending his chances of leading the Azzurri.
The sudden collapse of the deal has also cast uncertainty over the future of Paolo Maldini and Leonardo, who were expected to play key roles in the national team project. Both are now set to reassess their positions following the federation’s decision.

Pirlo, one of Italy’s greatest midfielders and a 2006 FIFA World Cup winner, had been widely expected to return to the national setup in a managerial role. However, concerns surrounding his commercial partnership ultimately proved decisive in preventing the appointment.
