The newly deployed Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Patrick Daor, has pledged to prioritise respect for citizens and strengthen public trust in the police command.
Daor made the commitment on Monday during the formal handover of the Edo State Police Command in Benin City by his predecessor, Monday Agbonika, who has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
The new commissioner said his administration would build on the achievements recorded by the previous leadership while introducing measures aimed at improving the command’s crime-fighting strategies.
He stressed the importance of maintaining a strong relationship between the police and residents, noting that public trust would be central to his leadership.
“More importantly, I will ensure that every policeman has respect for every citizen of this state. We will work towards winning more of the trust of the good people of this state. And we will maintain a very open-door policy,” Daor said.
The commissioner also pledged to fine-tune existing security strategies to effectively tackle crime and improve the overall safety of residents across the state.
He assured the people of Edo State that the command would remain accessible and responsive to their concerns, while encouraging residents to cooperate with the police in the fight against crime.
The leadership change comes as the Edo State Police Command begins a new phase under Daor, who is expected to consolidate on the security gains recorded by his predecessor.
