Absolutely. I’d keep the allegations clearly attributed to the Assembly and avoid presenting them as proven facts. I also checked for additional current details, but I could not find a sufficiently reliable report confirming more facts beyond the information you supplied, so I won’t invent any.

Bayelsa Assembly Takes Action Against Sagbama Council Boss

The Bayelsa State House of Assembly has removed the Chairman of Sagbama Local Government Area, Alice Allen Tangi, and her Vice-Chairman, Sufade Jefferson Tobi, from office over alleged gross misconduct.

The decision was taken during plenary on Tuesday after lawmakers considered a petition against the two local government officials.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Abraham Ingobere, said the resolution was made in accordance with the Bayelsa State Local Government Administration Law, 2000, and other relevant legal provisions.

According to the Speaker, the petition raised concerns over the alleged failure of the council chairman to provide monthly transparent briefings on the administration of the local government.

The Assembly also accused Tangi of allegedly spending public funds without first presenting the council’s annual budget, as required by law.

Ingobere further said the chairman failed to honour invitations from the House to appear and respond to the allegations contained in the petition.

The removal of the chairman and vice-chairman followed the lawmakers’ consideration of the petition and their subsequent resolution during the plenary.

The development places the leadership of Sagbama Local Government Area under fresh scrutiny as attention turns to the next steps for the administration of the council.

The Assembly’s action was based on allegations of misconduct, and the claims against the affected officials remain matters arising from the legislative proceedings.
