Tinubu Moves Ahead of 2027, Makes Key APC Campaign Appointments
President Bola Tinubu has taken a major step towards the 2027 general election with the constitution of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council.
The council will be headed by former Zamfara State Governor and Senator, Abdulaziz Yari, who has been appointed as Director-General.
Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was also appointed as Secretary of the campaign council.
The development was announced in a statement issued by the Presidency on Saturday and signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, President Tinubu will serve as Chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will serve as Vice-Chairman I.
The formation of the council marks an important organisational move by the ruling party as preparations gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State and former senator, brings extensive political experience to the campaign structure, while Uzodimma’s appointment places a sitting APC governor in a key coordinating role.
The appointments are expected to strengthen the party’s campaign machinery as it begins laying the groundwork for the next general election.
The APC, which currently controls the Federal Government, has continued to position its political structure ahead of the 2027 elections, with President Tinubu expected to seek another term in office.
The latest appointments further signal the party’s early preparations for the presidential contest and its efforts to consolidate its political machinery ahead of the election.
