Written by Mary Bassey

Afrobeats singer Mayorkun made a lively return to the Lagos stage on Sunday, thrilling music lovers with a high-energy performance at the Mainland Block Party in Club Mainland, Surulere.

The singer, whose real name is Adewale Emmanuel Mayowa, received a warm reception from the crowd as he stepped on stage in a black jacket, immediately setting the atmosphere for an energetic night.

Mayorkun kicked off his set with some of his popular songs, prompting fans to sing along before he moved on to his latest collaboration, “B4 B4,” featuring Afrobeats superstar Davido and singer FOLA.

Released on July 31, “B4 B4” has quickly become one of the notable songs on the Nigerian music scene. The track peaked at No. 1 on the Official Nigeria Top 100 and remained at the summit for a second consecutive week.

The performance also gave fans an opportunity to witness Mayorkun perform the song live following his musical reunion with Davido.

The collaboration marks another chapter in the relationship between the two artistes, who previously worked together on songs including “The Best,” “Betty Butter,” “Bobo” and “Cho Cho.” Mayorkun was formerly signed to Davido’s DMW label before leaving in 2021 to continue his career independently.

“B4 B4” is part of Davido’s 2026 album, ORIADÉ, and has continued to attract attention since its release.

At the Mainland Block Party, Mayorkun’s performance added to an already vibrant night of music and entertainment, with the singer’s appearance becoming one of the highlights for fans who turned out for the event.

The Mainland Block Party is known for bringing together Afrobeats artistes, DJs and young music lovers for large-scale entertainment events across Lagos.
