Landon Emenalo, son of former Super Eagles defender and ex-Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo, has joined Scottish champions Celtic on loan from Chelsea for the 2026/27 season.
The 18-year-old academy prospect will spend the campaign in Scotland as he looks to gain valuable first-team experience and continue his development away from Stamford Bridge.
Emenalo is a versatile player who has featured primarily as a left-back but can also operate in central defence and midfield. He joined Chelsea’s academy at Under-8 level and, apart from a spell with Monaco, has spent most of his development years with the London club.
The youngster was a regular starter for Chelsea Under-21s last season and played a key role as the side finished top of the Premier League 2 table. He also helped Chelsea’s Under-18s win the national title after defeating Manchester City in the play-off final at Stamford Bridge.
Emenalo was also included in Chelsea’s senior squad for their pre-season tour of Asia and Australia under head coach Xabi Alonso. He featured in the club’s 6–4 victory over A-League side Western Sydney Wanderers in Sydney on July 28.
Born in the United States, Emenalo has represented both the United States and England at youth international level, most recently featuring for England Under-18s.
The move to Celtic gives the teenager an opportunity to gain regular senior football while continuing his progression as Chelsea monitor his development in Scotland.
Emenalo also signed a new Chelsea contract earlier this year, keeping him at the club until at least 2031.
