The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stepped up its grassroots mobilisation in Kogi Central as the party begins preparations to secure the return of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to the Senate in the 2027 general elections.
The latest mobilisation took place on Thursday, September 3, 2026, in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, where PDP supporters staged a solidarity road walk in support of Akpoti-Uduaghan and other candidates of the party.
The exercise was led by the Director-General of the Kogi Central PDP 2027 campaign organisation, Dr Salami Etudaiye, and attracted youths, women, party loyalists and other supporters.
Etudaiye said the mobilisation was aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots structure and building support across the senatorial district ahead of the election.
He urged residents to assess political candidates based on their performance, capacity and ability to represent the interests of the people.
According to him, returning Akpoti-Uduaghan for a second term would provide an opportunity to build on her experience and continue constituency-focused programmes across Kogi Central.
The campaign leadership also called on PDP supporters to maintain unity and peaceful political engagement as activities ahead of the 2027 elections intensify.
Kogi Central Senatorial District comprises five local government areas: Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okehi, Okene and Ogori-Magongo.
The latest road walk comes weeks after the Kogi Central PDP inaugurated its 2027 campaign organisation, with Etudaiye appointed as Director-General and Abubakar Yahaya Karaku as Campaign Chairman.
The campaign team was mandated to focus on grassroots mobilisation, with emphasis on reaching voters across wards and polling units in the senatorial district.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who currently represents Kogi Central in the Senate, has declared her intention to seek another term in 2027, setting the stage for another closely watched contest in the district..
