The Jigawa State Hisbah Board has commenced a one-week training programme for about 2,600 personnel as part of efforts to strengthen their skills and improve service delivery across the state.
The training began on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Fanisau, Dutse, with personnel drawn from the 27 Local Government Areas of the state.
The exercise involves both male and female operatives and is designed to improve their professionalism, operational capacity and understanding of their responsibilities.
Speaking in a telephone interview with a PUNCH correspondent in Dutse on Sunday night, the Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Hisbah Board, Dauda Muhammad Hadejia, said the training would also expose the operatives to proper procedures for carrying out their duties in line with Shari’a principles.
According to him, the programme is expected to equip personnel with the knowledge and skills required to perform their duties more effectively and professionally.
He explained that the participants underwent screening and registration upon arrival at the camp before receiving identification cards and other training materials.
The training is part of broader efforts by the Jigawa State Government to strengthen the Hisbah Board. In June 2026, the state government approved about N97.71 million for the training of 2,600 Hisbah personnel, with the aim of improving operational capacity, professionalism and coordination among officers.
The latest training also comes amid ongoing reforms within the Jigawa Hisbah Board, including the establishment of specialised units and the provision of operational vehicles to support activities across the state’s 27 local government areas.
