The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested three suspected drug dealers and recovered 5,676 pieces of assorted illicit substances during a coordinated intelligence-led operation aimed at dismantling drug trafficking networks across the state.
The operation, carried out by police operatives based on credible intelligence, forms part of the command’s ongoing efforts to combat the sale, distribution and abuse of prohibited drugs while improving public safety.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Command, SP Shi’isu Adam, in Dutse, the state capital.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspects were apprehended during carefully planned raids targeting locations allegedly linked to illegal drug activities.
“The suspects were arrested during coordinated raids carried out by police operatives based on credible intelligence gathered on activities linked to the sale, distribution and abuse of prohibited drugs,” Adam said.
He explained that the operation reflects the command’s renewed commitment to tackling substance abuse, which has continued to fuel crime and other social vices in many communities.
The police added that investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the suspected drug network and uncover the source of the recovered illicit substances.
The command reaffirmed its determination to sustain intelligence-driven operations against criminal elements and urged residents to continue providing useful information that will aid law enforcement agencies in the fight against drug-related crimes.
