A single mother of two, identified as Sandra Okpara, has reportedly recovered N1,640,200 she mistakenly transferred to an account linked to Pastor Jerry Eze’s Streams of Joy International.
The refund followed a social media appeal by Okpara, whose emotional video seeking the return of the money attracted widespread attention online.
In the video, Okpara explained that she had made a N1,000 offering while participating in the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations (NSPPD), an online prayer programme convened by Pastor Jerry Eze.
She said that shortly afterwards, she intended to transfer a larger amount to a Zenith Bank account for a voucher or payments owed to other people. However, she mistakenly sent N1,640,200 to the church’s account.
“This money is not my money. I cannot do offering of 1,640,200. Please help me trace the accounts,” she pleaded in the video.
Okpara further explained that the funds belonged to other people who had begun contacting her, adding that she was a single mother of two and urgently needed the money returned.
Church Responds to Viral Appeal
Streams of Joy International said it became aware of the incident through the video circulating on social media.
In a statement, the ministry explained that it had not received any prior call, email, direct message or formal complaint from Okpara concerning the alleged erroneous transfer.
The church said its team subsequently contacted her through the social media account where the video originated and used the phone number provided in the appeal to investigate the matter.
According to the ministry, the transaction details were examined and the claim was verified before the money was returned.
In a post on X on Saturday, Streams of Joy confirmed the development, stating, “We have transferred her money back to her.”
Okpara later confirmed that she had received the refund at about 6:22 a.m. on Saturday after being contacted by a church staff member.
When asked whether she had received the full amount, she reportedly replied, “100 per cent.”
The incident has generated reactions online, with some users commending the ministry for resolving the matter after the transaction was brought to its attention.
Streams of Joy International also reiterated that its official communication channels remain available for people seeking assistance with erroneous transactions.
