UNICAL SUG Warns Students Over Fake School Resumption Date

Written by Mary Bassey

The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) has warned students against relying on unverified information circulating on social media and other unofficial platforms concerning the date for resumption.

The warning was contained in a statement issued by the Office of the Director of Information, SUG, University of Calabar, following the circulation of what it described as malicious fabrications and unverified reports within the student community.

The SUG clarified that its Office of the Director of Information remains an authorised channel for communicating verified information to students on matters relating to the Students’ Union and other official updates.

According to the statement, any purported resumption date or academic calendar being circulated from unknown or unauthorised sources should be disregarded until officially confirmed by the university management.

The union urged students to remain calm and await the official announcement of the resumption date and academic calendar for the next academic session.

It further assured students that once the university management releases the official information, it would be promptly communicated to the student body through the appropriate channels.

The SUG therefore advised students to avoid sharing or acting on unverified messages that could cause confusion within the university community.

Students were encouraged to rely on official communication from the University of Calabar and the Office of the Director of Information, SUG, for accurate updates on resumption and other academic matters.
