Veteran Nollywood actor Charles Inojie has described the late Sam Loco-Efe as one of the most intelligent actors in the history of Nigerian cinema, recalling his extraordinary ability to memorise scripts and correct fellow actors during rehearsals.
Inojie made the remarks while reflecting on his experience working with the legendary actor during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo.
According to him, Sam Loco-Efe possessed an exceptional memory and could absorb information even when he appeared occupied with other activities.
He explained that the late actor often needed to read a script only once to remember his lines, while also keeping track of other actors’ dialogue and correcting them whenever they made mistakes.
Inojie described the experience as remarkable, saying he had never encountered another actor with such an exceptional level of intelligence and mastery of the craft.
Beyond celebrating his talent, the actor expressed disappointment that Sam Loco-Efe died without receiving a national honour, despite his significant contributions to the Nigerian entertainment industry.
He argued that the late actor deserved recognition even after his death, stressing that his influence on Nollywood should not be forgotten.
Sam Loco-Efe, who died on August 7, 2011, at the age of 65, was widely celebrated for his comic brilliance, distinctive acting style and memorable performances in Nigerian films.
His legacy continues to inspire younger generations of actors, with Inojie’s latest remarks renewing conversations about the recognition of veteran entertainers whose contributions helped shape the Nigerian film industry.
The tribute serves as a reminder of the enduring impact of Sam Loco-Efe, whose talent and unforgettable screen presence remain part of Nollywood’s history.
