Former APC Women Leader Found Dead Inside Bauchi Residence

The Bauchi State Police Command has launched an investigation into the suspected murder of Jemimah Dutse, a former Zonal Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi South.

Dutse was reportedly found dead in a pool of blood inside her residence at Muazu New Layout, Yelwa, Bauchi metropolis, on Saturday, October 3, 2026.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, a 49-year-old resident of the area reported the discovery at the ‘E’ Division of the command at about 2:07pm.

The police said Dutse was found with her throat allegedly slit by unidentified assailants.

Following the report, detectives visited the scene, documented their findings and evacuated her remains to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, for medical examination and autopsy.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case and conduct a discreet and thorough investigation.

The police said the investigation is aimed at determining the circumstances surrounding Dutse’s death and identifying those responsible.

The command also expressed condolences to her family, friends and political associates, assuring the public that efforts would be made to bring the perpetrators to justice.

As of the time of filing this report, the identity of the assailant or assailants and the motive for the killing had not been established.

The police said further developments would be made public as the investigation progresses.
