Kebbi Governor Creates Seven New Districts, Appoints Traditional Rulers in Zuru Emirate

Written by Mary Bassey

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has approved the creation of seven new districts and the appointment of district and village heads across parts of the Zuru Emirate.

The development is aimed at strengthening traditional institutions, improving grassroots administration and bringing leadership closer to residents in the affected communities.

The creation of the new districts is expected to support the administration of traditional affairs and enhance coordination between community leaders and government authorities.

District and village heads play important roles in maintaining peace, resolving local disputes, preserving cultural heritage and supporting government policies at the grassroots level.

The governor’s approval forms part of efforts to reinforce traditional leadership structures and improve administration across communities in Kebbi State.

The move could also improve communication between the state government and rural communities by giving residents easier access to traditional leaders who understand their local needs and concerns. It is also expected to strengthen community participation in governance, promote peaceful coexistence and preserve the customs and cultural heritage of the Zuru Emirate.

Further details, including the names of the newly created districts, the appointed traditional rulers and the communities affected, would provide a clearer picture of the scope of the exercise.
