Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force, North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have repelled an attack by suspected members of the Lakurawa terrorist group on a Forward Operating Base in Maiyama Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The attack reportedly occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, October 7, 2026, when the terrorists launched an assault on the military base.
The attackers were said to have arrived in large numbers, with reports indicating that they used more than 100 motorcycles and were armed with various weapons.
The troops engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle and successfully repelled the assault, preventing the terrorists from overrunning the base.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA is one of the military’s ongoing operations in the North-West aimed at tackling terrorist and bandit groups and restoring security across the region.
Details of casualties or the extent of damage from the attack were not immediately clear at the time of publication. The military is expected to provide further information on the incident as operations continue.
