Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has criticised people who use their mobile phones during church services instead of paying attention to the preaching and teachings of the church.
The actor questioned why some worshippers find it difficult to put their phones aside while listening to the word of God.
Edochie made his position known in a social media post, urging Christians to give their full attention to church activities rather than allowing their phones to distract them during worship.
According to him, attending church should involve listening and concentrating on the message being delivered, rather than spending the service checking or using mobile devices.
His comment has generated reactions online, with some social media users agreeing that excessive phone use can be distracting during worship, while others argued that phones can also be useful for reading Bible passages, taking notes or following church activities.
The actor’s remarks have therefore sparked another conversation about appropriate phone use during church services and the need for worshippers to remain focused.
