2023; Atiku Names Udom, Imoke ,Gershom,Toyo others in Presidential Campaign
Ahead of the 2023 Presidential elections, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has named Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal as Director General of its National Campaign Management Committee (NCMC).
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel was named the Chairman of the Atiku Abubakar Campaign Council which has Governors Bala Mohammed and Seyi Makinde of Bauchi and Oyo States as Vice Chairmen, North and South respectively.
The Management Committee has four directorates headed by Deputy Directors General. They are: Sen. Liyel Imoke (Operations), Prof. Adewale Oladipo (Admin), Raymond Dokpesi (Technical and Systems) and Okwesileze Nwodo (Research and Strategy).
Despite internal disagreements, the
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike (whose name appeared as number 13 on the list) along with Governor Donald Duke were named along with other existing and former Governors into the Presidential campaign Council.
In the Council, the list also has the names of outstanding persons from Cross River State. These include; Senator Gershom Bassey ,Senator,CR South, Rt Hon Chris Agibe ,Member Rep, Ikom / Boki Federal Representative, HE, Amb Nkoyo Toyo ,HE, Efiok Cobham, Emmanuel Ibeshi among others.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had announced 28 September 2022 as the date for the commencement of presidential campaigns.
The Presidential candidate of PDP , Atiku Abubakar has tasked INEC and other agencies of government involved in the electoral process to ensure that the outcome of the elections reflect the desires of the people. With this development the PDP is now better unified for success in the presidential elections come 2023. Stakeholders in CRS have expressed their joy with this development and call on the Chairman of PDP in the State to learn from the National in the composition of its campaign organizations.
