Jonathan David to Atlético Madrid: Verbal Agreement Reached With Juventus
Atlético Madrid are closing in on the signing of Jonathan David from Juventus, with a verbal agreement now in place between the two clubs for the Canadian striker.
The deal is set to be structured as an initial loan move, with Atlético Madrid also securing a buy option clause for David at the end of the season. The agreement follows Atlético’s strong interest in the forward, with the move having been exclusively revealed last week.
As part of the agreement, Atlético Madrid will cover more than 50% of Jonathan David’s salary during his loan spell in Spain.
David is now expected to complete the next steps of the transfer as Atlético prepare to welcome him to the club. The move would add another attacking option to Diego Simeone’s squad, with the Canadian forward bringing pace, movement and goalscoring ability to the Atlético attack.
The 25-year-old joined Juventus after establishing himself as one of Europe’s most productive forwards, and Atlético now appear set to give him a fresh opportunity in La Liga.
With the verbal agreement reached, negotiations have advanced significantly and the transfer is now moving towards completion.
