BREAKING:  Military Aircraft Crashes in Ondo With 32 On Board

A Nigerian military aircraft has crashed in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, with 32 people on board, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has confirmed.

The aircraft, identified as an ATR-42 with tail number NGR 931, was on a routine mission from Benin, Edo State, to Lagos when the incident occurred on Monday, October 5, 2026.

According to Keyamo, air traffic controllers lost contact with the aircraft at about 9:13 a.m. after efforts to reach the crew by radio proved unsuccessful.

The minister later confirmed that the aircraft had crashed close to the Naval Base in Igbokoda, with the wreckage subsequently located.

Preliminary information indicated that 25 passengers and seven crew members were on board, bringing the total number of people aboard to 32.

The Nigerian Air Force also confirmed the crash and said immediate search and rescue operations had been activated in collaboration with relevant authorities and emergency response agencies.

As of the latest official updates, the condition of those on board and the number of casualties had not been officially confirmed.

Keyamo said he had spoken with the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, and pledged the cooperation of his ministry in the ongoing rescue efforts.

The cause of the crash has not yet been disclosed, while further details are expected as authorities continue their search and investigation.
