Three women-owned businesses have received a One Million Naira grant, courtesy of the Cross River State Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (MEDA), at the just concluded Calabarmums Big Meet Business Summit. Twenty other women also received scholarships.
The summit, themed “Her Money, Her Power,” took place at the conference hall of the Prof. Eyo Ita House, Marian Road, Calabar. Women from diverse backgrounds attended the event, sharing their experiences and insights to encourage other women to embrace entrepreneurship and develop structured businesses.

Great Ogban, Director-General of MEDA, emphasized the state government’s commitment to enterprise development, particularly for women, whom he described as the foundation of a thriving society like Cross River State.
Lady Victoria Ekpo, the summit convener, explained that the Calabarmums brand is dedicated to supporting women in navigating the challenges of life and fostering a strong sense of community.
She added that the business summit aims to empower female business owners by providing a platform for learning from experts and established entrepreneurs.

After thorough review and presentation from 15 applicants with different businesses a total of Three women owned businesses were empowered with 500,000, 300,000 and 200,000
The winners for the 1M Empowerment award to Three women owned businesses given by Victoria Ekpo popularly known as Calabarmums are:
NANA ART INITIATIVE- won 500,000
ROFEM CAKES AND PASTRIES- Won 300,000
SARRES COLLECTION AND MORE- won 200,000
At the end of the Event the sum of N180,000 was presented to the fourth business owners who didn’t win the main prize but through consolation prize and contribution from the audience she got the aforementioned amount
All winners are awarded free EDC training as well as Justina Ovat Organization that also render her services to winners.
