MEDA Director General Praises Yakurr LGA Chairman’s Youth Empowerment Initiatives

Great Ogban, Director General of the Cross River State Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (MEDA), joined other dignitaries at the 100-day celebration of Hon. Yibala Inyang chairmanship of Yakurr Local Government Area. The event highlighted the chairman’s commitment to youth empowerment, with youths receiving certificates and equipment to launch their entrepreneurial ventures.

Ogban commended Hon. Inyang’s dedication to youth development, stating that he is “leaving no stone unturned in his quest to making the youths self-reliant through skill acquisition and empowerment.”

Hon. Yibala Inyang highlighted his administration’s achievements, including the training of over 39 youths in various skills such as fashion designing, barbering, solar installation, and content creation.

He also emphasized broader developmental initiatives, including office renovations, provision of pipe-borne water, installation of solar streetlights, and improved staff welfare. These efforts, he noted, have resulted in a tripling of the council’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

The highlight of the celebration was the presentation of certificates and equipment to the beneficiaries.

The equipment, including sewing machines, rechargeable clippers, solar installation kits, and android phones, will enable the graduates to put their newly acquired skills into practice. The recipients had recently completed weeks of intensive training sponsored by the Chairman.
