25-Year-Old NYSC Doctor Reportedly Dies After Alleged Delay in Sick Leave Approval
A tragic incident involving a young medical doctor serving under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has sparked widespread reactions, with many Nigerians calling for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Dr. Wisdom Oghenetega Enakirerhi, a 25-year-old medical doctor and serving NYSC member, reportedly passed away after his repeated requests for medical leave were allegedly delayed despite his worsening health condition.
According to reports, Dr. Enakirerhi had sought three weeks of sick leave to undergo urgent medical treatment as his health continued to deteriorate. However, his requests were reportedly not approved in time.
Sources close to the family disclosed that his relatives, who are also medical practitioners, made several appeals for him to be released from his place of primary assignment so he could return home for proper medical care. Unfortunately, approval for the leave was reportedly granted only a few days before his death.
The incident has generated widespread concern on social media, with many Nigerians questioning the handling of the situation and urging the relevant authorities to review policies surrounding the welfare and healthcare of corps members.
