CR-ROMA Begins Repairs on Critical Road Sections in Calabar South

The Cross River State Road Maintenance Agency (CR-ROMA) has commenced rehabilitation works on critical failed sections of major road corridors in Calabar South Local Government Area, deploying engineers, field workers and modern road maintenance equipment to restore damaged portions and improve traffic flow.

The intervention, led by the Agency’s Director-General, Hon. Christopher Ntui, is focused on addressing potholes and deteriorated road sections along some of the busiest routes in the area.

Funded by the Cross River State Government, the maintenance work covers strategic locations including Mayne Avenue by Atamunu, Mayne Avenue by Ekpo Abasi, Ekpo Abasi Roundabout, and the Ekpo Abasi axis by New Airport Road.

CR-ROMA Targets Failed Sections, Not Full Road Reconstruction

Speaking on the scope of the project, Hon. Ntui clarified that the intervention is specifically designed to repair failed portions of the affected roads rather than reconstruct the entire stretches.

“This work does not cover the entire stretch of the road but rather surface patching, asphalt overlay, and the remediation of failed road sections to eliminate potholes and ease traffic flow on that axis.”

According to the Director-General, addressing the damaged portions of these high-traffic corridors will help reduce vehicular wear and tear, ease traffic congestion and provide smoother movement for residents, businesses and commuters who rely on the roads daily.

CR-ROMA Assures Residents of Continued Road Maintenance

Hon. Ntui further assured residents that CR-ROMA would sustain its response to road maintenance challenges across Cross River State.

He said the Agency remains committed to supporting the State Government’s efforts to maintain a safe, seamless and motorable road network across the state.

The ongoing intervention is expected to improve accessibility and traffic movement in key parts of Calabar South while enhancing the condition of some of the area’s major road corridors.
