\”CRSPHCDA DG Storms Health Facilities Unannounced, Reads Riot Acts To Absent Staff\”

Earlier today, the Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency Director General, Deaconess Mrs Abasioffiong Offiong paid an unscheduled/unannounced visit to some health facilities within Calabar South and Calabar Municipality Local Government Area. On arrival she noticed that some of the health workers have actually put up a nonchalant attitude due to the fact that the Agency had no figure head for a couple of days.

While frowning over such attitude, the DG charged the health workers to sit up and take their jobs seriously or risked being fired for gross misconduct and negligence of duty. She stated that the health sector is not like other establishments where people can behave the way they like as the health sector having got to do with the lives and welfare of cross riverians required diligence, commitment, dedication, punctuality and hard work as such anything short of that, will not be tolerated.

In her words; Immediately the Governor Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade announced my appointment I got to work and I thought it wise to pay an unscheduled/unannounced visit to some health facilities and the turn out was very discouraging and one I will not condole as DG, as such am calling on all health workers to sit up and take their jobs seriously or they risk being sacked for gross misconduct and negligence of duty as I\’ll follow due process putting into consideration the civil service rules and regulations.

As time goes on I\’ll be taking the responsibility of visiting health facilities within and outside the State and whoever is found guilty will be made to face the wrath of the law. The government won\’t take the responsibility of taking care of her staff and all we do is pay her back with negligence and truancy, am not a Director General who will sit in the office and make or pass instructions instead I\’ll always be in the field and will continue to lead from the front.

\"\"

While I want to commend all my health workers across the State for remaining steadfast and committed in their duties, I also wish to appeal to them to put the lives and welfare of the people first before anything else. All hands must be on deck for us to ensure the mortality rate in our health facilities is reduced as we will as a government continue to support you and do our best to give you a smooth working environment.\”

As a way of encouragement and love, Deaconess Mrs Abasioffiong Offiong decided to forgive all the health workers that were found guilty of not being on duty during her visit as she reads out the riot act to all health workers stressing that she will not be that considerate and kind should such act repeat itself again.
