CALABAR Cross River State, Tuesday November 14, 2023 – Today marks a momentous occasion for Federal Government Girls College Calabar as the esteemed institution commemorates its 50th golden jubilee anniversary. Established on this very day, November 14, in 1973, the school has been a beacon of education and empowerment for half a century.

To honor this milestone, a series of captivating events unfolded over the past four days, showcasing the rich history and achievements of the institution. The celebration which commenced since Friday, November 10th 2023 following up the Live updates on social media most especially Calabargist. Sunday, November 12th 2023, which was the 2nd Calabar Carnival Dryrun started with a heartfelt thanksgiving service, followed by a delightful lunch with students. Souvenirs, including the anniversary magazine and notepad, were shared, creating lasting memories for all.

Yesterday, on Monday, November 13th, the festivities continued with a thrilling novelty football match featuring both ex-students and current students. The match ended in a draw, fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship. The day progressed with an enchanting exhibition, where ex-students marveled at the diverse talents displayed by current students in dancing, skills demonstrations, carnival walks, and creative outfits.

As the jubilee celebration reaches its zenith today, Tuesday, November 14th, ex-students are invited to gather at the school compound at 10 am, adorned in their uniforms, to kickstart the day\’s activities. A rewind to yesterday\’s events will set the stage for today\’s grand affair, where the highlight will be the unveiling of the 50th-anniversary logo.
