HON. ODEN EWA’S SIN

HON. ODEN EWA’S SIN

By Jesam Omini

This morning, I woke up to a series of sponsored publications, all aimed at tarnishing the reputation of a man many have described as one of the young beacons of hope in Cross River State: Hon. Oden Ewa.

In a society like ours, such attacks are sadly predictable and common in the political space. In Cross River State today, mediocrity often takes center stage, while genuine hard work and impact are relegated to the background and dismissed as atypical. Hon. Oden Ewa’s stands in stark contrast to this trend. He embodies the spirit of resilience and dedication, carving out a legacy in the political landscape through sheer determination and purpose.

But Oden isn’t just another political figure navigating the corridors of power. He’s a man on a mission—a leader creating a ripple effect of transformation among young minds. His focus isn’t on fleeting gestures or temporary applause; instead, he is deeply invested in building a future where young people are empowered to engage in governance and advocacy. His impact stems not from a need for recognition or reward but from an innate passion to leave lasting footprints wherever he treads.

So, what is Oden’s sin? His “sin” is daring to rise above the average. In a political space where many leaders prefer occasional handouts for applause, Oden chooses a different path—he listens, engages, builds, empowers, and nurtures young people for the greater good of their communities and the nation at large. This approach not only sets him apart but also threatens the status quo of access and privilege.

Hon. Oden Ewa stands in stark contrast to this trend. He embodies the spirit of resilience and dedication, carving out a legacy in the political landscape through sheer determination and purpose.

Why would anyone feel uneasy about Oden excelling in his role as Commissioner? Instead of channeling their energy toward personal growth or serving their constituents, some leaders, plagued by guilt over their own inefficiencies, have resorted to targeting a man whose only “crime” is working hard to make a difference. If their conscience troubles them, the solution is clear: seek forgiveness, engage stakeholders and youths, and work diligently to improve their performance. Misplaced frustration, priorities, and envy should not be directed at someone who is simply fulfilling his duty with excellence. Dialogue and collaboration should be encouraged.

Is it a crime for a young man to rise against the odds? Is it wrong for someone to be passionately invested in the development of his community? Is it sinful to be intentional about uplifting the less privileged?

The goodwill Oden enjoys is not by accident—it is a result of his pure heart and genuine commitment to making a difference. Those who feel threatened should look inward and re-evaluate their priorities. Hon. Oden Ewa is a leader whose integrity and passion speak louder than any attempt to discredit him. The facts speak for themselves—it is not by nomination or imposition.

In a world that desperately needs more selfless leaders, Oden Ewa will continue to stand tall—a shining light reminding us all that true leadership lies in the impact, engagement, and contributions we make, not in the titles we hold.
