The investigation into the alleged activities of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council has taken a new turn, as the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) says it has uncovered two more fake government agencies allegedly linked to the council’s self-acclaimed Director-General, Adeniyi Matthew Adeyemi.
The Chairman of the ICPC, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, disclosed the development on Thursday after presenting the commission’s interim investigation report to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
According to Aliyu, the discovery forms part of the commission’s ongoing probe into the alleged fraudulent operations surrounding the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), an organisation that has come under scrutiny over claims of falsely presenting itself as a government body.
He said the latest findings indicate that the suspected network may be broader than initially believed, with investigators uncovering additional entities allegedly created to mislead the public and give the impression of official government backing.
The ICPC chairman assured Nigerians that investigations are still ongoing and that everyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law. He added that the commission remains committed to protecting public institutions from fraud and impersonation.
The PFIPC has recently attracted national attention following allegations that it operated without legal recognition while claiming ties to the Presidency. Several government institutions, including the State House, have since distanced themselves from the organisation, insisting it has no official mandate or affiliation with the Presidency.
The commission is expected to provide further updates as investigations continue.
