Portuguese forward Rafael Leão has confirmed that he intends to leave AC Milan during the upcoming summer transfer window, bringing an end to a memorable chapter with the Italian giants.
Speaking to Sport TV Portugal, the 26-year-old revealed that while he remains grateful for everything the club has given him, he feels the time has come to embrace a new challenge elsewhere.
“I’m proud as I made history at AC Milan, but now I want a new chapter. I’m looking forward to playing in another league,” Leão said.
The winger has been one of Milan’s most influential players in recent years, playing a key role in the club’s successes and establishing himself as one of Europe’s most exciting attacking talents. Since joining the Rossoneri, Leão has contributed with crucial goals, assists, and match-winning performances that helped restore Milan’s competitiveness at both domestic and European levels.
Despite his affection for the club, the Portugal international admitted that his desire for a fresh experience has become stronger.
“I did my best for Milan, the club gave me everything, but I’m feeling ready for a new team, new league and new challenge,” he added.
Leão’s announcement is expected to spark major interest from several top European clubs, with many already monitoring his situation ahead of the transfer window. His combination of pace, creativity, and goal-scoring ability makes him one of the most sought-after forwards on the market.
Reflecting on his time at San Siro, Leão expressed appreciation for the club, teammates, and supporters who have been part of his journey.
“It’s been a beautiful time there,” he said.
As AC Milan prepare for life without one of their biggest stars, attention will now turn to where Leão’s next destination will be. With his quality and experience, the Portuguese attacker is expected to be one of the headline names of the summer transfer market.
Further developments regarding his future are expected in the coming weeks as clubs position themselves to secure his signature.
