Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has pledged to review the allowances paid to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state, raising hopes of a possible increase.
Namadi made the promise on Monday during a visit to the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Fanisau, Dutse, where he attended the passing-out ceremony of the 2026 Batch C Stream corps members.
The governor’s pledge signals a possible review of the financial support available to corps members posted to Jigawa State.
However, details of the proposed review, including the amount of any increase and when it might take effect, were not immediately disclosed.
The development comes as corps members across Nigeria continue to carry out their national service in various sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture and community development.
The NYSC scheme was established to promote national unity and integration by deploying Nigerian graduates to states outside their places of origin.
Further details on the proposed allowance review are expected as the Jigawa State Government provides more information.
