JUST IN : Chelsea Break the Bank for Premier League Star

Written by Mary Bassey

Chelsea have agreed a club-record deal worth £117 million to sign Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers, in what is set to become one of the biggest transfers of the summer.

The agreement, reported on Saturday, surpasses Chelsea’s previous highest transfer fee and is expected to become the largest amount ever paid for an English footballer, underlining the club’s determination to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season.

Rogers, 23, is expected to sign a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea holding the option to extend the deal by an additional year. The move is now awaiting the completion of the remaining formalities, including medical examinations and the signing of final documents.

The England international enjoyed an impressive campaign with Aston Villa, establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s brightest young attacking midfielders. His pace, creativity, versatility and eye for goal attracted interest from several top clubs before Chelsea moved quickly to secure his signature.

Chelsea view Rogers as a key addition to their long-term project, with the club continuing its strategy of recruiting young, high-potential players capable of making an immediate impact while developing into future stars.

The transfer also represents a major piece of business for Aston Villa, who are set to receive a record fee for one of their standout performers after his rapid rise over the past two seasons.

An official announcement is expected once all contractual and medical procedures have been completed.
