The director general of the cross river state primary health care development agency Deaconess Mrs Abasioffiong Offiong in a bid to strengthen and support the Reproductive Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent, Elderly, Health, plus Nutrition (RMNCAEH+N) quality of Care. The agency through the NPHCDA will be collaborating with the Momentum Country and Global Leadership Quality of Care (MCGL QoC) project in Nigeria as well as the federal ministry of health.
Speaking during an enlarge stakeholders meeting, the Honorable Commissioner for Health Dr. Janet Ekpenyong thanked and welcome the team to the State and appreciated the Federal Ministry of Health for always having Cross River State at heart.

As a State we are always very committed in any given obligation as such every information you need from us will be given to you almost immediately. Basically, I\’m happy that research is part of this project as it will help us know the impact and progress of what we\’re doing. Be rest assured that you\’ll get all the necessary support from us as a state.\”
The health Commissioner who wished that the number of LGAs can be scaled up reassured the team that the State will start with the two LGAs in the State capital being Calabar South and Calabar Municipality.
On her part, the CRSPHCDA Director General Deaconess Mrs. Abasioffiong Offiong pledged her support and that of her Agency in ensuring that the State gets all the necessary support in strengthening MNCH QoC through national and sub national policy and strategy, technical support, learning and research as well as strengthening of QoC data system using data for decision making as one of the aims of the project.

The Momentum and Global Leadership Quality of Care project in Nigeria is a three year project funded by USAID and its driven by a consortium of partners such as Jhpiego, Save the Children, and Institute for Healthcare improvement with Jhpiego providing the overall leadership and oversight of all activities and deliverables across the four programs objectives.
The overall importance and objectives of this project is to improve the quality of care for Mothers, Newborn and Children as research has so far shown that the leading cause of neonatal death are sepsis, intrapartum, injuries, and pneumonia with the majority of neonatal death occurring in the early neonatal period (first seven days).
