NG-CARES: State CSDA Presents Cheques to More Communities for Project Implementation
Cross River State governor, Prof. Ben Ayade has approved the presentation of cheques to two communities whose community development plans were approved by the state Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA). This is in addition to the over 60 million Naira that was earlier approved to 3 Communities in the North and 2 in the Central.
The presentation of cheques to the communities is in line with the mandate of CSDA for funding for the development of rural communities in the state. The two communities are Efut in Calabar South and Atan-Onoyom in Odukpani Local Government Areas in the Southern Senatorial District of the State.
In his orientation speech, Governor Ben Ayade, represented by the Commissioner for International Development Corporation and Chairman, State CARES Steering Committee, Dr. Inyang Asibong, hinted that a second batch of funding to the communities was dependent on the feedback report of the effective utilization of the first tranche.
Commissioner Asibong appreciated the Community Project Management Committee (CPMC) for their unalloyed dedication while encouraging beneficiaries to take advantage of the numerous interventions that are available to benefit from.
Highlighting the Agency\’s role in community development in the State, Chairman of CSDA, Mr. Toni Ikpeme charged the beneficiaries to exude maximum accountability with the finances, noting that the selected villages were lucky to have been among the first 7 to benefit from the NG-CARES programme in the state after series of evaluation.
In a remark, General Manager of CPMC, Mr. Fidel Udie encouraged the community implementation team to harness direct labourers from within the communities in achieving the results.
Highlights of the function was presentation of cheques and other orientation exercises with the leadership of the communities.
