Niger Delta Students\’ Union Government (NIDSUG) Raise alarm over SCHOLARSHIP Review from IOC’s

A CALL FOR THE IOC’s, NDDC AND MULTI-NATIONALS TO REVIEW ITS EDUCATIONAL PLANS IN THE NIGER DELTA REGION — Comr. Scott Ogunseri, National president Niger Delta students Union Government (NIDSUG)

I am constrained to beckon on the NDDC, Government Agencies, International Oil Companies (IOCs)and multi-nationals to rise to the occasion to review their educational plans in the Niger Delta region. It is unfortunate that these international oil companies have blatantly forsaken their corporate social responsibilities. In the same vein, they have also sidelined the leadership of the Niger Delta Students\’ Union Government (NIDSUG) in carrying out their activities.

Consequently, we passionately appeal to the leadership of international oil companies and other multi-nationals to prioritize the welfare of Niger Delta Students by religiously implementing policies and programs that will benefit the Niger Delta Students and people alike.

Similarly, we also request a review of the educational programs and other beneficial programs for the host communities within the Niger Delta atmosphere. Again, we ask the IOCs to be more careful about their exploration and mining activities in order to save the people of Niger Delta from the hazards of environmental degradation and pollution.

If this neglect continues we will be left with no choice than to mobilize our students to your head quarters.
Be warned..

International Oil Companies (IOCs) should not only prioritize the interests and welfare of Niger Delta diaspora students, but also, the overall welfare of home-based students. It\’s high time we felt the impacts of International Oil Companies in Niger Delta. In pursuance of our people-oriented projects and programs, we shall be executing welfare and human capacity building programs in the coming days and we urge the IOCs to key into this initiatives for the general interests of Niger Delta Students. As a corollary, we also passionately appeal to the state Governors of the Niger Delta states to show solidarity and support to Niger Delta Students by supporting the programs and policies of the Niger Delta Students\’ Union Government (NIDSUG).

The NDDC’S oversea scholarship should be holistically reviewed to capture undergraduates, and invest more in our local schools to accommodate Local Scholarships too.
