The Ogun State Police Command is set to hold a security stakeholders’ workshop ahead of the 2027 general elections as part of efforts to promote peaceful participation and strengthen the credibility of the electoral process.
The two-day workshop, themed “Elections, Community Mobilisation, The Law and The Media,” is scheduled to take place from September 22 to 23, 2026, in Ogun State.
According to a statement signed by the Executive Consultant of the workshop, Dr Bolu Folayan, and made available to PUNCH Online on Tuesday, the programme is designed to strengthen cooperation among security agencies, electoral stakeholders, the media and communities ahead of the elections.
Folayan said the training would focus on improving inter-agency respect, cooperation and coordination, while also encouraging effective community engagement before, during and after elections.
The workshop will also address professional conduct and accountability among stakeholders involved in the electoral process.
The organisers said the initiative was aimed at ensuring that relevant stakeholders understand their roles and responsibilities in maintaining peace and security throughout the electoral period.
The engagement is expected to provide an avenue for stakeholders to discuss possible security challenges associated with elections and explore ways of preventing violence and other disruptions that could affect voters and the electoral process.
The Ogun Police Command’s move comes as preparations gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with stakeholders expected to play key roles in ensuring a peaceful and orderly democratic process.
