BENIN CITY, Edo State — Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has sworn in new chairmen and members of two key state commissions, as part of efforts to strengthen the administration of ecological management and electricity regulation in the state.
At a ceremony held at the Government House in Benin City on Thursday, Okpebholo administered the oath of office to Terry Igiebor as Chairman of the Edo State Ecological Funding and Management Commission, while Prof. David Osifo was inaugurated as a member.
The governor also swore in Dr Shittu Shaibu as Chairman of the Edo State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
Other members inaugurated into the electricity regulatory commission were Thomas Inegbedion, Abdulrask Abubakar, Alex Oniawu and Patrick Iluobe.
Speaking during the ceremony, Okpebholo congratulated the appointees and charged them to justify the confidence placed in them.
He said their appointments came with significant responsibilities, stressing that the commissions would play important roles in addressing issues within their respective areas.
The governor urged the newly inaugurated officials to discharge their duties with professionalism, accountability and dedication to the interests of Edo residents.
The appointments are expected to strengthen the state’s institutional framework for ecological funding and management, as well as electricity regulation, particularly as the state continues to develop its electricity sector.
The inauguration marks another step by the Okpebholo administration in constituting key statutory bodies responsible for supporting governance and public service delivery across Edo State.
