The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has expressed confidence that voters will opt for a change when they head to the polls on August 15.
Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, dismissed suggestions that his growing campaign strength was mainly due to alleged support from the Federal Government, insisting that his confidence was based on the support he had received from residents across the state.
Speaking on Tuesday during the Arise Townhall, Oyebamiji responded to claims by opposition figures that the APC campaign was relying on “federal might” to defeat incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The APC candidate said his campaign had focused on extensive consultations with communities and stakeholders across Osun, adding that his interactions with residents had convinced him that many people were seeking a change in leadership.
Oyebamiji also played down the perception of Adeleke’s popularity, arguing that the popularity of a political figure should ultimately be tested at the ballot box.
According to him, the support he has received during his consultations across the state gives him confidence that the electorate is prepared to make a different choice in the August 15 election.
The Osun governorship race has intensified ahead of the poll, with Adeleke seeking another term while Oyebamiji is campaigning to return the APC to power in the state.
With the election only days away, the contest has increasingly focused on the candidates’ records, campaign promises, grassroots support and the political influence surrounding the major contenders.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled the Osun governorship election for August 15, 2026.
