Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, has been elected the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) after securing victory in the association’s 2026 national election.
Badejo-Okusanya defeated two other Senior Advocates of Nigeria in the keenly contested poll, becoming one of the few women to lead Nigeria’s largest professional body for lawyers.
The Chairman of the NBA Electoral Committee (ECNBA), Aham Ejelam, SAN, announced the election results on Sunday at the NBA National Secretariat in Abuja after the voting process was concluded.
The announcement came after the election experienced delays caused by technical glitches and a reported cyberattack, which temporarily disrupted the electronic voting process before it was successfully completed.
Her emergence marks the beginning of a new leadership era for the Nigerian Bar Association, with members expecting renewed focus on legal reforms, the welfare of lawyers, judicial independence, and the advancement of the legal profession.
Badejo-Okusanya is expected to officially assume office in accordance with the NBA’s constitutional provisions and lead the association over the next administration.
