The media aide to Anambra State First Lady, Dr Nonye Soludo, Daniel Ezeigwe, has clarified the relationship between the families of former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and Governor Chukwuma Soludo, stating that Obi is not the godfather of any of Soludo’s children.
Ezeigwe made the clarification on Saturday following comments by Obi in which the former governor reportedly said that he and his wife, Margaret, were godparents to some of Soludo’s children.
According to the aide, the actual godparent relationship is different from what was stated.
He explained that Dr Nonye Soludo is the confirmation godmother to Peter Obi’s daughter, while Margaret Obi, the former governor’s wife, is the baptismal godmother to one of Soludo’s daughters.
He stressed that neither Peter Obi nor Chukwuma Soludo has served as a godparent to the other’s children.
The clarification comes amid renewed public attention on the relationship between the two former political allies, who have had political differences in recent years.
Ezeigwe’s statement was intended to set the record straight on the nature of the relationship between the two families, separating their family ties from their political differences.
