Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has demanded DNA tests for his two children with actress Akinyanju Omobolarinde, better known as Ashabi Simple, before he will accept responsibility for their upkeep.
The singer made the demand on Friday amid an ongoing dispute with Ashabi over the welfare and financial support of their children.
In a message shared on his Instagram Story, Portable said he wanted the paternity of the children confirmed before providing financial support, citing his lack of trust in their mother.
“Now I need DNA test asap so I can take care of those kids because I do not trust their mother. I cannot take care of another man child,” he wrote.
Reports also said the singer made similar remarks in a voice note that surfaced online, where he reportedly insisted that the children undergo DNA testing before he would pay child support.
Portable questioned the circumstances surrounding the children’s paternity and said physical resemblance was not enough for him to accept them as his without a scientific test.
The latest development comes after reports that Ashabi had threatened legal action over Portable’s alleged failure to provide money for the children’s feeding and welfare.
Portable, however, reportedly told her to bring the children to him, insisting that he would take responsibility for their school fees, clothing, feeding and other needs if they were in his care.
The dispute has added another chapter to the strained relationship between Portable and Ashabi, whose disagreements have repeatedly played out on social media.
For now, Portable’s position is that a DNA test must be conducted before he proceeds with financial responsibility for the children.
