Dr. Betta Edu, hails from Ibalebo in Abi local government Area, Cross River State. She was the Director General of the Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency (CRSPHCDA), and Special Technical Adviser, Cross River state Privatization Council to the Governor.

She has a medical degree from University of Calabar, Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health for Developing Countries from London School Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, UK, Master of Science Public Health in Developing Countries from London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, UK, and Doctor of Public Health from Texila American University. She regularly updated her professional and leadership skills through numerous executive programmes from renown institutions including University of London UK, Harvard University, University of Washington, and University Virginia in the United States of America.

Dr. Betta Edu, as Youngest Special Adviser to a Governor in Nigeria, built, renovated and equipped over 100 primary health facilities in rural areas where access was a problem and brought health care to 68 Hard-to-reach communities in Cross River State.

With over 300 Awards for excellence in service, Dr Betta. Edu has been adjudged to have saved over one million lives by her numerous innovative interventions in rural underserved areas where she has given aid and succor to dying populations through the primary health system in her state and country; provided over 700,000
children with Vitamin A supplementation, contributing to the healthy development of children across the state; held several
self-sponsored free medical outreaches that have touched lives of over 100,000 people in the state and attracted over 100 solar systems from WE CARE SOLAR to light up several primary health facilities in remote areas that have no access to electricity.

She is currently the State Commissioner for Health, and the National Chairman of the Nigeria Health Commissioners Forum. Dr Edu is a Member of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 on Special Task Team on Covid-19 for Niger Delta and Maritime Sector Response, and also, Member APC National Reconciliation Committee.
