ELECTION GUIDELINES
1.
QUALIFICATION:
Every Aspirant Contesting Elections in the National Youth Council of
Nigeria shall:-
a. Be a citizen of Nigeria
b. Must Attain the age of 18-35years
c. Must possess at least a Senior School Certificate of Education or its
equivalent from a recognized institution.
d. He or she shall not be convicted of any crime involving dishonesty,
fraud, violence or other malpractice.
e. Must be a member of L.G. Chapter of NYCN or an affiliated voluntary
Youth Organization (VYO) Faith Based Organization (FBO).
2.
PRESCRIBED FEES
a. All Aspirants shall procure nomination form for a prescribed fees as
follows.

(b) All duly completed forms shall be accompanied by sworn declaration by the
aspirants and an undertaking to abide by these guidelines and any other
rule or regulation governing the congress issued by the C.P.C
(C) All duly completed forms shall be submitted with the his/her certificate
and shall also provide any of the following.
(i). International Passport
(ii). Drivers license
(iii). National identity Card
(v). Birth Certificate or Affidavit of Age declaration
(vi). Voters card
(D) Screening Exercise shall be conducted for all aspirants in line with the
provision of the Constitution of the NYCN, only successful aspirants in
the screening shall be referred to as candidates for the elections.
(E)
The electoral Committee shall have powers to disqualify any aspirants
who does not meet the criteria for eligibility as contained in the
constitution.

GENERAL CONDUCT
(a)
Any aspirants who supplies false information or make false
declaration shall be disqualified.
(b)
No aspirant shall be a member of the Local Organizing Committee.
(c)
The electoral committee shall prepare all election materials for the
election.
(d)
The Chairman of the election committee shall appoint all L.G
Returning Officers for the said elections.
(e)
The Electoral Committee shall conduct free & fair elections,
announce the results at the end of elections and declare a winner.
(f)
The result of the screening exercise shall be displayed at the
election venue at least 3hrs before the commencement of the
election.
(g)
The Electoral Committee shall make arrangement for the
candidates to address the congress before the elections.
(h)
Any candidate that doesn’t belong to a registered and validated
VYO will not be allowed to contest and vote.
(i)
All VYO shall be duly register and validated with the ministry of
Youth through Local Government youth officers or in the ministry
of youth.
(j)
Elections shall be by open ballot
(k)
The returning officer shall open the ballot boxes and count the
received ballot papers before the aspirants & Agent and place them
in full view of all accredited voters.
(L) Any candidate that is aggrieved with the outcome of the elections, may
appeal in writing to the election tribunal committee within 24hrs after the election
