Ralph Egwu React To VALENTINE Day Saying Valentine’s Day is not just about romantic relationships.
The Leading aspirant for House of assembly (Biase state constituency) Onun Hon Ralph Egwu writes constituents on Valentine\’s day
Valentine is an annual festival to celebrate the importance of love, friendship and admiration. It is a day we commemorate the importance of love as exhibited by St. Valentine who was jailed and executed for the sake of love.
St. Valentine was a Catholic Priest who saw the importance of love, thus he defiled all odds to share this love to those who were in need of it. During the 3rd century, Emperor Claudius II created and enacted a strict law that prevented the Roman soldiers from getting married as a result of the prevalence of Christianity and his pursuit to gain the utter allegiance of the soldiers.
But out of love, St Valentine began to marry these soldiers in secret Christian ceremonies and this was the beginning of his reputation for believing in the importance of love.
Eventually, Valentine was found out and jailed for his crimes against Claudius. While imprisoned, Valentine cared for his fellow prisoners and also his jailor\’s blind daughter. However, it was recorded that Valentine cured the girl\’s blindness and that his final act before being executed was to write her a love message signed ‘from your Valentine\’. Valentine was executed on 14 February in the year 270
The most overlooked fact about Valentine’s Day is that it’s not just about romantic relationships.
Why shouldn’t we celebrate love in all forms and shapes?
The love for your parents, siblings and of course your friend. Even if they’re spending Valentine’s Day with their better half, let them know that they hold a special place in your heart
“I also urge my constituents to live in peace and Unity as we work collectively to restore total peace in the land of Erei while the dividends of democracy rolls out”.
Have an amazing Valentine\’s Day filled with feelings of love, and know that I am thinking of you warmly with optimism that tomorrow is better
