American rapper and music executive, Rick Ross has been arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, over allegations of domestic violence, facing charges of battery by strangulation and misdemeanor battery.
The 50-year-old rapper, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II, was taken into custody early Thursday, October 1, 2026, according to police and court records.
Ross’s arrest comes amid public allegations of physical abuse made by his former girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick, who recently shared photographs of injuries she claimed were inflicted during their relationship. However, authorities have not publicly confirmed whether her allegations are directly connected to the charges.
According to court records, the rapper faces one felony count of battery by strangulation and a separate misdemeanor battery charge, both classified as domestic violence-related offences.
Following his arrest, Ross was held on a combined bond of $6,000, with his arraignment scheduled for October 22, 2026.
Reacting to the allegations, Ross’s attorney, Steve Sadow, maintained that his client is innocent and has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The lawyer also questioned the timing of the complaint, noting that the alleged victim reportedly waited about a month before filing a police report. He urged the public not to prejudge the case while the legal process is ongoing.
Rick Ross rose to international prominence with his 2006 hit single Hustlin’ and has since established himself as one of the prominent figures in American hip-hop, with multiple successful albums and collaborations with leading artists.
The case remains ongoing, and the allegations have yet to be established in court.
