Nollywood actress, Ronke Ojo, popularly known as Ronke Oshodi-Oke, has explained why she is willing to support politicians, urging Nigerians not to criticise or attack her when they see her around political figures.
The veteran actress made this known during an interview with African A-List, uploaded on YouTube on Sunday, while speaking about Nigerian politics and whether she would accept money to endorse or support a politician.
Oshodi-Oke, who declined to discuss Nigerian politics extensively, described the country’s political system as “dirty” and stressed that her association with politicians should not be interpreted as an instruction to anyone on who to vote for.
“Nigeria politics is dirt, so I do not want to talk about it. I am not saying you should not vote for whoever you want to vote for,” she said.
When asked if she would accept money to endorse or support a politician, the actress said people should understand that she was doing so to make a living.
She urged Nigerians not to insult her if they saw her supporting or standing behind a politician, saying such involvement should simply be viewed as her means of earning a living.
“If you see me behind any politician, anybody, just see it as if she is looking for something to put food on the table. Just leave, let her eat. Do not insult or drag me,” she said.
Oshodi-Oke’s latest comments come after she had previously spoken about her experiences with political campaigns. In 2025, she was among Yoruba actors reported to have expressed regret over campaigning for the All Progressives Congress during the 2023 elections.
The actress has also previously said that if she were to campaign again, she would prefer to support an individual based on conviction rather than simply campaign for a political party.
Her latest remarks have renewed conversations about the role of entertainers in Nigerian politics and whether celebrity support for political figures should be viewed as personal endorsement, paid engagement or political advocacy.
