The President of the Students’ Union Government of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), Comr Ogar Favour Johobe (Noble), took to his social media facebook account after recent post was made regarding the 1.96 billion set to be paid to councilors for car grants in Cross River State meanwhile there’s an existing ASUU strike at UNICROSS, he said
“As the President of the Students’ Union Government of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS), I wish to respectfully draw the attention of His Excellency, Governor Bassey Otu, to the ongoing industrial action by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), which has brought academic activities within our institution to a standstill.
Firstly, I commend Your Excellency for the numerous developmental projects and people-oriented initiatives being executed across Cross River State. These efforts are clear demonstrations of your commitment to the growth and progress of our dear state.
However, the current situation at the University of Cross River State demands urgent intervention. Thousands of students have been left stranded, with their academic pursuits and future aspirations placed on hold due to the lingering strike action. The prolonged disruption of the academic calendar poses serious academic, social, and economic consequences for students and their families.
Education remains one of the most valuable investments any government can make in its people. As the state’s premier institution of higher learning, UNICROSS deserves every necessary support to ensure a stable and conducive environment for teaching, learning, and research.
On behalf of the entire student community, I respectfully appeal to Your Excellency to intervene and facilitate an amicable resolution of the issues that led to the strike. Your timely intervention will not only restore academic activities but will also reaffirm your administration’s commitment to educational development and human capital advancement.
We remain confident in your leadership and your unwavering dedication to the welfare of Cross Riverians. We look forward to a swift resolution that will enable students to return to their classrooms and continue their academic journey without further interruption.
Thank you, Your Excellency, for your attention and continued service to our state.
