The Sokoto State Police Command is mourning the sudden death of Inspector Adamu Isah, who collapsed shortly after participating in the command’s weekly walkathon exercise.
Isah, an officer attached to the Department of Operations, reportedly returned to the police command headquarters after Wednesday’s fitness exercise before suddenly collapsing.
According to the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, the officer was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical attention.
Despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life, Isah was later confirmed dead by doctors.
Reacting to the incident, the Sokoto State Commissioner of Police, CP Hayatu Shaffa, described the officer’s death as a painful loss to the command.
Shaffa commiserated with Isah’s family, colleagues and friends, describing the deceased as a dedicated and gallant officer who served the country with commitment and professionalism.
The commissioner also disclosed that Isah was actively involved in sports. He was a member of the command’s volleyball team and also participated in boxing.
According to Shaffa, the late inspector’s energy, discipline and team spirit would be greatly missed by his colleagues.
The commissioner assured the deceased officer’s family of the command’s support during the difficult period and prayed for them to have the strength to bear the loss.
The circumstances surrounding the sudden collapse were not disclosed by the police, and the command did not state that the fitness exercise was the cause of death.
